Role: Web Producer / Project Manager

As a Web Producer, I project manage five projects ranging from a smaller, non-profit charity dealing with mental health, drug and alcohol abuse and learning disabilities to a global company providing independent risk management organisation. The role requires me to be client-facing and to liase with developers in the office, regarding current and further development. We work solely with Microsoft products day-to-day, creating Internet and Intranet sites using both Content Management Server and SharePoint to create our solutions; using these products has given me a large opportunity to gain experience with these and to be able to create solutions based on these software products.

With my advanced knowledge of the Web Standards (Cascading Style Sheets and XHTML), I was able to introduce improved methods to the company upon my arrival; this ranged from initial training of the developers in best practises to style guides and XHTML mockups for clients. Our company benefits from these Web Standards as we are able to deliver true accessible and usable content.

As a Web Producer, I have also am required to travel within England and visit on-site with clients. I relish the opportunity to do this, as I enjoy meeting new people and building long-standing relationships with clients. On-site visits also involve training the clients in how to use their new Web solution, ranging from one-on-one to ten-fifteen person groups, this is further interaction I enjoy as part of my role and have been successful in delivering.

The role also has me documenting all facets of the project lifecycle - from proposal to post-implementation review. My current major project had me write an 80-page Technical Specification for the client to further support the Functional Specifications and Scope of Work, which was used by the client to understand the deliverables and for the developers to help create the web site solution.

Essential Computer Systems (ECS)

July 1999 to June 2004

Milestones

January 2003

Role: Web / Business Analyst [New Product Division]

Developing new technologies and furthering the current product suite for ECS, including enhancing the User Interface of ePASS using Advanced CSS techniques, XHTML and Flash with XML, development of online tools including Flash calculators, and development of a .NET application involving web development. Involved from initial brainstorming stages to development to documentation and training users.

October 2001

Role: Web Team Leader

Work closely with Java and Web developers to develop a number of solutions for our clients; this involves programming and design, client consulting, project management and technical writing.

May 2001

Role: Flash Developer

Created two Flash presentations, an online demonstration of the Employer Contribution module and a CD-ROM handout for financial services conventions that has a five-minute overview of ECS's superannuation product, ePASS. Have since developed a number of Flash presentations for various modules and products.

January 2001

Role: Developer

Developed a content management system, Essential Website Framework (EWF), to allow clients to update their web site remotely. Using a SQL database and a browser front end, this system allowed client's to make real-time changes to their site, upload files and have complete control of the content of their websites without the need of a programmer. These sites also required designing, coding and installing the required software on the client's web-servers (locally and interstate [required travel]); eight clients are currently successfully using this system.

September 2000

Role: Web Developer

Developed web version of superannuation system, ePASS, along with a team of Java programmers. A generic system, built to support ease of change based on client's look and feel, with a flexibility to fit into client's websites without changing the actual system itself. Using JSP and CSS technology, now (2004) used with over fifteen clients, all over Australia, using the same principles since inception. Each client is branded [by me] to follow their existing brand and mimic their web site.

July 1999

Role: Web Designer

Number of projects to improve from a design sense - a client's supporting web site for a superannuation system, a supporting web site for a large Adelaide client using a system created by ECS, and the ePASS website (version 1).
